PEI Wilderness Videos - Vidéos de l'Île-du-Prince-Édouard

Here's something that has nothing to do with Covid-19.

Voici quelque chose qui n'a rien à voir avec Covid-19.

As you know, we have been volunteering with Island Nature Trust since we arrived on the island (a year ago!). Last winter I was given a trail camera and told to go forth and film wildlife in Nature Trust natural areas. So I did. And it became an addiction. With the positive results from that first camera I decided to buy a couple more and the following videos are only a small portion of what has been recorded. I have so many videos of Snowshoe Hare that it is apparent that the hare population is very healthy. And an abundance of hare results in an abundance of fox and coyote.

Two Coyotes Meet - Deux coyotes se rencontrent

Snowshoe Hare - Lièvre d'Amérique

More Snowshoe Hare - Encore des lièvres d'Amérique

Coyote Looking For Food - Coyote à la recherche de nourriture

Athletic Hare - Lièvre athlétique

Mink Exploring The Riverbank - Vison explorant la berge

Bald Eagle - Pygargue à tête blanche (aigle)

Beaver Going to Eat - Castor va manger

Some pictures from the forest. Quelques photos de la forêt.

And sometimes nature comes to the back yard. If you have a feeder. Et parfois, la nature vient dans la cour arrière. Surtout si vous avez une mangeoire pour les oiseaux.

Stay healthy everyone. Restez en bonne santé tout le monde.

Mike

Thank you so much! Those videos are beautiful and take away the mind of the present situation. Wonderful! Stay healthy and sane Ruth
Beautiful and peaceful. Merci.
Hi louiseandmike ! All I can say is – keep ‘em coming! Great stories, amazing photos of wildlife, friends and family, and happy faces! This is just what the doctor ordered in these times, and I look forward to your next post. Canadian Geographic may be interested. Take care and stay safe Will from Ottawa. Beautiful, thank you!!
Hi Will, Don't know about Canadian Geographic but it is so good for our mental health to be working in the woods. We're busy trying to film a very elusive otter right now. Hopefully, we'll have something to post soon. Mike
Yes, being in the woods does wonders for your soul. Funny, last summer at the lake we had an otter swim right to shore. We sometimes get beavers, but this one must have been lost! I liked your squirrel staring into the lens and the coyote encounter! Good luck on the hunt! Will William Szepesi 613-581-6636
I'm so glad you liked them Ruth. Stay well and all our love to everyone in Ottawa. Mike
Carole, Hope you are well. Stay well! Mike
Hello there Mike and Louise, I loved watching your videos. The waxwings are such gentlemanly birds. The photos and videos are a welcome change from all the cutsie videos of cats, dogs , baby elephants and peoples' children and semi funny quotes people send. Although some are fun, it seems that people are trying to keep their own spirits up by torturing other people with their unedited "stuff". It has been such a long time since I have seen you guys that I almost forget what you look like. Louise- what colour is your hair? Are you guys still cute? I was in Victoria when the covid shit hit the fan. Yikes!! Still managed to do a lot of beach and forest walking alone. Beauty everywhere for free! I just completed the quarantine period, for those people unlucky enough to have been on airplanes and in airports. I found myself trying not to breath too much at the beginning of the flight, but then relaxed a bit before I passed out. How are your daughter and grandchild? And your son? I miss seeing my grandkids, except the ones I live with, and accept the rules to protect us all, but now understand why dogs bite furniture soon when left alone for a long time. Hope you folks are able to stay safe and that we can meet up sometime. Happy trails, Jacqui
Hi Jacqui! I'm glad you enjoyed the videos. Let me try to answer your questions. Louise's hair is still silver. Are we both still cute? Me? Not since I was a toddler. Louise? Absolutely! Everyone in the family is healthy for which I am extremely grateful and they are all adapting to the restrictions as best they can. Your trip across the country sounds a tad stressful but we're glad that you escaped unscathed. Try to leave the furniture alone. And when this all ends, and eventually it will, come and visit. We have good rates! And PEI is lovely. Stay safe! Mike & Louise
Thanks for those wonderful shots. Truly a new found pastime which suits you two. - always something new & exciting. Send more. They're great. Enjoy & stay safe you 2. Big hugs.
Dear Mike and Louise, Thank you for the wonderful pictures and information; I enjoyed hearing about your work. I think a dead seal on the beach could be effectively included in a tourist brochure. Stepping on a dead seal while strolling on a beach is, in fact, a humbling experience. I know because I stepped on the rotting corpse of a seal. It helped to lower my expectations in life, and saved me the money that a meditation retreat would have cost for the same smelly outcome. You sound like talented birders. I will look forward to a guided tour of your Plover beach retreats after the pandemic vaccine. I watched a doc. on Netflix called "Dancing with the Birds"; your pictures and commentary are as interesting as this. I am well and so are children and grandkids so far. Yay!! And lucky. Take good care and stay safe on your beautiful island. xo Jacqui
